Front Garden Design in Ludlow, Shropshire
Our proposed herbaceous border design for this front garden in Ludlow fills the driveway with year round colour, texture and interest.
The pathway constructed of local stone, snakes through the border allowing the client to take in all of the planting.
The stone wall has been planted with a variety of low growing perennials, which will billow over the front, softening its impact, and providing early season colour, in the form of Alyssum saxatile, Aubretia 'Purple Cascade' and Geranium 'Dreamland'.
The evergreen shrubs and perennials, Hebe 'Mrs Winder', Rhododendron dufthecke lilac INKARHO, Sedum rupestre, Nadina domestica, Alchemilla mollis and Cornus sibirica will provide much needed interest over the winter months.
There is a cohesive influence in the herbaceous border from both Gertrude Jekyll and Piet Oudulf; plants and shrubs have been specified to provide a plethora of colour, contrast and texture throughout the growing season from April to October, and it is also low maintenance.
