Garden Design in Droitwich Spa
The forgotten shaded aspect under the tree in this large Worcestershire garden, has been designed so that it can be viewed from the kitchen by our client and also provide sensational seasonal colour, texture and contrast. With favourites such as the Hydrangea macrophylla, Hydrangea merville 'Sanguinea', Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki', Bergenia cordifolia, Lonicera nitida 'Baggesen's Gold' and Euonymus japonicus 'Ovatus Aureus' there will always colour in this shaded planting design.
Behind this bed lies a shaded copse which we have designed to be full of interest, to acheive this we have planted Sarcococca confusa, Liriope muscari, Skimmia 'Kew Green', Mahonia japonica, Polystichum minutum, Asplenium scolopendrium, Crytonium fortunei and Polygonatum x hybridum. The path has also been lined with 5 Dickisonia antarctica, to add interest, and encourage the visitor to touch and brush against these as they travel through this area. To screen the fence line we have planted Phyllostachys nigra @ 1.75m, which evoke a lovely sound as the wind rushes through.
Throughout the remainder of the garden plants have been added to complement the existing, which will give a wealth of colour throughout the year, one notable favourite it Persicaria affinis 'Darjeeling Red'
To fill a gap amongst a predominantly Japanese planting scheme we have introduced Fatsia japonica, an evergreen shrub, with small white flowers in globose clusters.
