Bareroot trees, shrubs, roses and perennials
The air may be cold, but in the horticultural world we are in the best time of year to buy and plant deciduous trees, hedging plants, roses and several perennials.
The bareroot (BR) season starts at the beginning of November and finishes in April when the plants are dormant.
Bareroot means grown in soil as opposed to container and dug up during the dormant season, with no soil or compost around the roots. They will be cheaper when compared to containerised stock, and there will typically be a greater selection to choose from.
If you are thinking about a box parterre filled with roses, an orchard, a fruit garden, or a specimen tree, contact Hornby Garden Designs to discuss the advantages of bareroot stock.
